Rockfish Love

Our guest for the October 13 show was ichthyologist Dr. Milton Love of the University of California, Santa Barbara.  Dr. Love has been studying rockfishes for most of his adult life, and has authored several books, including “Certainly More Than You Want to Know About the Fishes of the Pacific Coast.”

His Website – the Love Lab – is full of informative and entertaining content, and conveys some of his sense of humor as well!

His friend Ray Troll made a rap video about rockfish recompression!  Something I had never heard of before.

Archive recording of the complete show can be heard here (stream or download).

Rockfish are a lot more interesting that I would have thought; for example, I had no idea they could live so long – over 200 years in some cases!  We hope to have Dr. Love on the air with us again, as there is clearly a lot more to learn about these amazing fish.
